Lost Sanctuary

by Serina the Squid   Jul 28, 2007

I have seen green grass
and the dew upon a rose
I've waded in the chilly slush
that winter's end can bring
And stood beneath a dusky sky
as 'Jays and Ospreys flew on by
Once I held the moonlight
that landed on my floor
I've shared secrets with the wind
and helped an injured crow
I have gossiped with the spiders
that live upon my wall
and felt a bat's wing
as it skidded past my head
I've stood out in the night
with the stars above my being
and swam among the fish
in a crystalline blue sea
Felt the sunlight hit my face
and my blankets hug my flesh
As the morning warmth devoured
the cool rest of the night
In these simple pleasures
and in the haven of my mind
have I managed to escape
a past and still a present
that tears cannot describe.

I liked how you said "your old life".
    worded very well.
the line about winters end and slush made me go back to a time like that of mine.
    the flow was nice.
