White Smile

by Serina the Squid   Jul 28, 2007

I cannot help but ask
Why the sun comes out each morning
Every day
Without fail
And never stops to wonder
If it's doing something wrong

and how can this poor planet
Manage to survive
With such commotion on its sands
Let alone continue
Never-ending cycles
That have lived since time began

Why do the churning waters
Of an angry yet calm sea
Never cease to function
With actions of an anguish
Whose beauty is astounding

Why does the moon always smile
Its menacing white grin
Upon a world down below
That's moving far too fast
To stop
And look up
And smile back

How do the plants survive
The toxins of the air
And the trample of the feet
And the scorn of the waste
That is left around them
And still manage
Somehow
To look as beautiful
As they always have and always will

And occasionally the sky
Will let its heavy eyelids
Shed the tears it keeps
Hidden in the beauty
Of the world that is still
And hopefully will always
Be around us

And, no, I cannot help but wonder
Why this world doesn't change
But continues to push on
Through the troubles of its friends
And never stops to think
If we're deserving of such love

I stand alone
The night air is chilly and fresh
For the sky's just finished crying
As have I

I stop
And look up
At a glowing white light
Smiling down at me
With a joy so profound
And oddly familiar
That I cannot help
But smile back

Ok well the big words were almost to much for this poem
i don't want to sound like I didn't get it but I think it needs to be more simple
    just my suggestion

These lines are really catching and wriiten well. The word choice is great and I loved how the lexis strung each other. You kept it really beautiful. Take my 5/5 :)
