Barbed Roses

by Alyssa Friday   Jul 28, 2007

Roses wind around barbed wire,
shrieking, yearning to escape
from bloody cage of metal.
Soft petals torn with gruesome scores,
bleeding sweet perfume.
No love left for warring flowers,
no way out from speared bodies.
Wire feels no regret towards pain,
only caring for its own.
Barbs reach further,
severing stem,
breaking rose for good.
Freedom! Freedom! Flowers feel,
heaven sent from murdering steel.
