Ashes to Ashes

by Alyssa Friday   Jul 28, 2007

Ashes to ashes,
falling, crumbling.
The fire is crawling,
the stone walls are tumbling.
A staccato descent down
the smoky air can't catch,
ending in a broken pool,
drowning in a bloody trench.

Flames to flames,
touching, thrilling.
Reaching with hot fingers,
this fire keeps killing.
A finish line at last,
too bad no one could win.
Everyone lost their lives
when the fire rushed in.
