Your Face is Home to me...

by Stephanie smiles   Jul 28, 2007

I see your face
It feels like home to me
Yet home is something I should feel, smell, taste, and see

You are mine
But I can not have you.
My hands long for your touch

Yet I reach them out
Grasping onto nothing.
Lately I have always felt the air with you.

Your love encircles me,
But I can not feel the tender warmth of your embrace,
For the miles go on between our two beating hearts

I love you more than the world itself,
But love seems to be not enough to bring you within my reach.
I know this is the way it must be but it hurts

My arms ache from reaching,
My legs throb from running to a voice that never gets any closer.
My eyes become blind as I search for the face that I once gazed so deeply into.

I search for the place that once kept me safe
I long to feel the way I used to feel
Smell how I used to smell
Taste how I used to taste
See the way I used to see
I knew your face, and it was home to me…
