A Mother's Cry...

by Monica AKA Mika   Jul 29, 2007

Tears of joy fall from a mother's eyes as she looks into the face of her baby boy,
She watches him grow up quick no longer playing with a toy.

Going to the middle school in another fight each day,
She cries wishing he had a father to show him the right way.

Bad grades in school, no respect and a bad attitude,
He does what he has to survive for his mother cant provide him food.

Living poor on the streets he sells drugs to get by,
His mother sees him doing this but there's no need to ask why.

Three kids already and he's only twenty-one,
Now he knows being a singe father isn't too much for fun.

Working three jobs and still selling weed,
She cries because she knows she can't give him what he needs.

In and out of jail for his gang violence and fights,
By now it's no surprise when she sees those red and blue lights.

Three gun shots blast and echo the streets of their town,
Two men were hit but only one is to stay down.

At that moment she knew that her sons life was finished before it begun,
Just another statistic-Black man dead at twenty-one.

Bullet with his name on it-His life over all in one drive-by,
Blood on the pavement and all you hear is a mother's cry...

{*Written for every mother who has ever lost her son if it were a situation like this or any situation at all...I pray for you...R.I.P Nelson D. Rodriguez...We Miss You*}
