The Storm Within

by Letty   Jul 29, 2007

The rain pounds heavily against my window Payne,
As my mind hallucinates visions of your face,
Almost driving me insane.

Lightning strikes multiple times,
As thunder beats a drum of booms.
My heart shatters like glass each passing moment,
Because I don't want to be without you.

The wind blows strongly,
Interrupting my disturbing thoughts.
My phone rings, my heart sinks,
Wondering if it's you or not.

I answer, even though nature is still at work.
It's you on the line and I'm happy inside
Because only you can quench my thirst.

I'm like a fish, I can't survive,
Without the proper care and attention.
I also need something extra from you,
But that I choose not to mention.

Come over. I say to you,
So that you can bring this storm to an end.
"What storm you ask?" because it's clear outside.
And I say the storm within.

This poem gets an A for the way rhetoric is used in it. The words in this poem paint a good picture in relation to the poem's title
