Falling

by Dr of Bishonomics   Jul 31, 2007

Little by little I can feel the foundations of my life slip away,
The years spent working at it is destroyed in one day,
Scared, looking out in the crowd for a comforting face,
But there's no one familiar in this hostile place,
So I cling on with what little strength I have left,
But the pressures so compressing that I'm losing my breath,
Looking down is a cause for concern,
It's like gazing into the eyes of piranhas with teeth that burn,
Trying desperatley to jump higher and pull me in,
This gaping abyss with a thousand grins,
Deceitful eyes watch my every move,
Giving me the feeling that in the end I will lose,
Is there not someone in this huddled mass
Who will come and save me like the ghost of Christmas past,
But TV dreams are no good in reality,
They will not counteract the force of gravity,
As inch by inch I slip deeper and deeper
Until my body takes the form of a sleeper

    Hey

I like this poem. I get the feeling of desperation so intense that its almost frightening and a hint of paranoia.

"Deceitful eyes watch my every move,"

Well thats how i read it anyway lol.

I like your poems, they are real and honest, if you know what i mean? They are not all flowery and sweet, they are just there like life.

    Great work
