I refuse & accept

by Mauro Garcia   Jul 31, 2007

I refuse to let myself just get by in life
with barely any responsibility, worries or strife

I refuse to stand here only as a child
with innocent eyes that seems so calm and mild

I refuse to sit here and tell people lies
full of hope and warmth seeing through deceiving eyes

I refuse to have to wipe my own tears
with no woman by my side to carry me through the years

I refuse to let people tell me who I am, and what I do
without a back bone just to please you

But I accept the challenge of being a man
carrying the weights of life griped tight in hand

I accept the chance to show what I'm worth
let my mom know she didn't waste 9 months to give me birth

I accept the spotlight to shine as I should
and never accept defeat, even if I could

I accept the blessing of being your man
to love you and hold you, with heart held hands

I refuse to be what they want me to be
But I accept the chance for you to love me for me
