Letter to my unborn child

by Bexx   Jul 31, 2007

My future child
I worry you will be like your mother
small and unaware
you will spend nights questioning
that which you will never know
I'm afraid that like me
you will not find a night
worth sleeping
a moon
not worth seeing
or a sunrise
not worth watching
I am afraid that you
will inherit your mother's curiosity
searching for answers in everything
but maybe
you will inherit your mother's spontaneity
hopefully you will use it in better ways than I
Child, I hope you listen to those tales
the incurably old tell
Baby, I wish you nothing but good
I wish you a level head
and containable quirkiness
I wish you stillness and peace
I wish you nothing like me
but in the event you turn out like me
I wish you sleep
