Slave to Life

by BrokenREALiTy   Jul 31, 2007

Life's rain is pouring down on you,
As you're drowning in yourself on land.
Your mind pulls you to the brink of sanity,
Look around (no one understands).
Spend your years looking for yourself,
When you're already really here.
Though, look through the image in the mirror,
And you're really over there.
Run away screaming with bemused delight,
When existence attempts your death.
Hold the knife of your own blood before you;
Will you go against what life has set?
Escape and yet you're still a prisoner;
Yet you still don't feel the slightest free.
Wandering among an empty road road ahead of you,
Squandering: "Who is truly me?"
Attempting to separate the duplicates of true,
From the mystifying dreams; a falsity.
Stranded between two copies of what really is,
When both are reality.
(You're a slave to life...)

    Nice write. The poem itself is akin to an excitable rant of emotional steam. It reminds me of a confused someone, yet is still able to think properly, especially in difficult circumstances. The pitch and rhythm set off vigorous pace throughout, which is seemingly forceful; and the emotions raw and well versed. An interesting read.
