The tin man

by Valiantpenguin   Aug 1, 2007

Watched an old movie today
And though I've seen it a thousand times
That one part still hurts
Still tears me apart

When the tin man cries
Because he can't feel
Singing of love
And if he "only had a heart"

I wished I could cut mine out
And give it to him on a platter
Let him feel what loves like
Let him feel his heart break

Then I would be just like him
All tin and no worries of love
No make-up to hide my sorrow
No smile thats always fake

But then I would feel bad
For putting him through such misery
And my conscience would be mad
And ask "Now tell me, what have you gained?"

Then i would take it back
Because no one deserves to suffer
And the tin man would go on singing
still free from the pain
