Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces

by FountainsOfBlood   Aug 1, 2007

Walk along an empty graveyard, yet accompanied
Shivers run down your spin
The wolfy wind howls into the midnight sky
Wrapped in the cold shroud of death

Whispers deafen your numb ears
Shadows gather among the weeping willows
Scream with unheard voices
Fight to the beat of your tapping shoes

Reach the final gravestone
A tear slides down pale senseless skin
Close your eyes, think of the good times
That's all that keeps us sain

All the darkness disappears
Colours spread along this dusty field
Gob-smacked as you are, looking down
The illumination comes from you

Bright light awakens the spirits
They dance to the beat of song
Amazed, you stare around
Comforted by the sweet white glow

You see a daddy and daughter reunite
They hug in the light
"I missed you dearly! Never leave me again."
See the happiness death can be?

So the spirits all go into the colours
Find lost friends and loved ones
They smile... all at you
Unreal how one human can change so much

Sadness seems ever so far
Joy to such a dull place
The dead are so happy
So why do we think sad?

All the spirits merge into the glow
It soon returns to normal
Back to the cold as it originated
You walk out, with your duty done...
