Rumours (169)

by NinjaGirl   Aug 1, 2007

Rumours are wounds
Inflicted by words
Repeated many a time
Until it hurts.

It's so easy to start a rumour
A mouth opens and tongue wags
When the lies reach my own ears
I choke and I gag.

Who would dream up
Such a rumour or lie?
Who would watch in satisfaction
As that persons confidence began to die?

Who would take pleasure
To laugh and to tease?
And when tears were shed
Why would you be so pleased?

Rumours hurt
And rumours kill
Injecting poison
At a haters will.

Rumours never die down
They can live on for years
And when they come back to haunt you
They're your topmost fears.

Rumours leave people defeated
And leave your heart broken
And after they're spread about
You wish no one had spoken.
