On The Heathway

by Dwite Fry   Aug 2, 2007

There's someone who's got something to say to you
And I think there might be something in it
He knows it's something he could never do
But he'd wishes he could make you happy every minute

Of course you know it's really me

So sleep tight on the Heathway tonight
And may Dagenham not invade your dreams
Sleep tight tonight, little Dagenhamite
And may Barking Boys not ruin your dreams

He'd really like to keep this brief
But he hopes on day you'll be free and abroad
No one to cause you any grief
And Free to fly away from the top of Ford's

Of course you know it's really me

So sleep tight on the Heathway tonight
And may Dagenham not invade your dreams
Sleep tight tonight, little Dagenhamite
And may Barking Boys not ruin your dreams

And even when things worsen
And if you ever loose touch
you'll always be a beautiful person
And he loves you very much

Of course you know it's really me

So sleep tight on the Heathway tonight
And may Dagenham not invade your dreams
Sleep tight tonight, little Dagenhamite
And may Barking Boys not ruin your dreams

I wrote the 'chorus' in 2006 in Devon as was the 'flying from Ford's' section. The rest was written this summer.

Dagenham is a place in the South East of England, formerly and now sort-of-not-really in Essex. Barking is a nearby town. Dagenhamites come from Dagenham, Barking Boys from Barking. Ford's is (was) a very large factory for the car company Ford in Dagenham, it's closed now.
