There's a Hero Inside All of Us

Stereotypes have placed a certain image in our heads
Of those people we call heroes; those who take away our dread.
Maybe they can fly, jumping from buildings, like Spiderman;
Perhaps they can disappear, and go from land to land.
They may even possess the power of avoiding death's light;
Dying just cannot be done, some say it's a true delight.

Let's take a moment, however, and let us comprehend:
Are these people really heroes? Are they really our friend?
In my belief, a hero is a person not of which is strong,
But that of whom could choose between which is right and wrong.
A hero is a person who would guard with all their might,
Their loved ones, or those in danger, and they'd guard them like a knight.

Protecting is their one true aim, they'd go to any length:
"A man distinguished by exceptional courage and nobility and strength."
Yet let us see and believe, that a hero is an easy person to be,
As long as the heart inside keeps beating: a hero everyone will see.
Let us understand that having heroic powers is not just a plus;
If you truly do posses those powers, you'll see there's one in all of us.

    Amazing. And it was flawless because it sounded like you were conveying a message while writing for yourself, not for your reader. You told the truth about something and the true meaning behind a word. Loved it. Excellent write, and I have to say it was one of the best poems you've written. Pleasure reading it :)

    Aweehh. Words can`t even begin to explain how much I loved this! You wrote it perfectly. The flow was spot on, the wording was amazing; and it really pulls the reader into what it is saying. It`s not one of those poems that you read and half way through remember that you`re reading and have to go back and re-read the whole dang thing! Lol, good job Darling, really.

    This a great pice of poetry. The was actually meaning to it and a great message. Wonderful word choice made for a pleasant flow and great rhyme scheme. Thanks for sharing.
