Songs

by The Herald   Aug 2, 2007

They can make you feel good, and sometimes happy
and other times they make you feel crappy.
the people that make them,
don't care about others
we're just consumers,
hmph, just like their brothers.

most of the stuff they say isn't true.
hey, but i don't know, what about you?
Do you think its right to allow a song,
something someone made up,
their career to prolong,
to control your thoughts, your will and action
as though if you listen, you're part of the faction.

everyone has favorites, some white and some black.
and its the differences between us that make others attack.
if you don't conform, you better watch out.
because someone behind you is ready to shout.
"YOU WILL OBEY, YOU WILL LISTEN"
And all the time, your mom's tears'l just glisten.
because you've abandoned it all, you hopes and your dreams.
you've given it up, and killed your means.
the lyrics pass through your head and there they tear holes.
and you stare at your shoes, and with they had soles.

I'm not making this up, I've seen it, its true.
in Detroit there is someone just like you.
who thinks they can make it big, but no one can.
its better to scrape out your life, than stand up like a man.
thats what the world thinks, but its wrong.
hey, listen to me, i must sound like a bomb,
about to explode in someone's face.
and destroy everything,
the whole human race.
but its not my fault, realy it ain't.
the songs in my head, make it all sound so quaint.
