Unknown Poet

by Twisted Heart   Aug 3, 2007

With quill a scene is captured
Watercolors splashes mind
A canvas bare of feelings
Caught by hands of time.

Parchment, but a wounded heart
A pen holds fast a tear
To stay thoughts that run array
Changing year to year.

Tender beat upon mere breath
Lends comfort to a soul
As tattered dreams take to life
With pen the story's told.

Distant thunder, comes a storm
Inside my mind it quakes
As words leak free from tepid ink
Then splashes on the page

There lies the soul, exposed
To all who dare to read
Words born life of sadness
In shattered fantasies.

Dark quill, finally laid to rest
Upon heart's shadows cast
Torn soul caressed by emptiness
Pitched from life's pen... at last.

This is perhaps one of your very best. I was taken with this stanza:

    "Tender beat upon mere breath
    Lends comfort to a soul
As tattered dreams take to life
    With pen the story's told."

So indicative of why a poet writes...
