Sweet Sorrow Breeze [Double Etheree]

by Twisted Heart   Aug 3, 2007

Sweet
Sorrow,
You hold me
In captive arms
Lulling me to sleep
Tears dip upon the eyes
In slumber torn memories
Silent words a burden of mind
Secrets lost against the pitch of time.
Now hunger for release of life and breath.

To thee sweet night, I lay in wanton death
A victim to your shadow thoughts hide
Tender winds caress the tears cried
As sure as the mind confides
In the stars shining bright.
Now emptiness tips
from the heartache
of the breeze
that lifts
me.

Etheree Form was discovered about 20 years ago by an Arkansas poet Etheree Taylor Armstrong. (what a cool name) It has a structure much like the nonet, except that it has an additional line.

I like the style you used. I had to look up a word or two, but I think you had fabulous imagery.

What a cool poem. I loved the form (I could never do it in a million years I think).
