Suddenly

It suddenly occurred to me, my love was not returned
From depths to deep inside of me, for you my heart did yearn
You'd smile at me so tenderly, I knew my love you felt
And when you put your hands on me, my heart and soul would melt

A simple kiss upon my cheek, was more than I could ask
The twinkle in your eye would creep and to my soul it would attach
I'd see you in the distant light upon my mind you'd be
But all the little kindnesses were for someone else not me.

Each day was a beginning, brand new time to show to you
My heart for you was pounding, thumping loudly, strong and true
Sweet days have turned to months but still you hold me back
Within the fiber of you heart, room for me you lack.

So suddenly, I see it clear, my love for you unshared
It's only me, who has this love, it's only me who really cares.
To think about a future seems too futile and so wrong
So I'll just pack my heart up tight and I'll be moving on.

    If only I could say those words to the one I love.. would he understand them..? Would he know that his love was misspent, when he could love me for less.. Beautiful.. I also love the stanza that Billy Rob highlighted, but in contrast, it works well because of the whole poem.. Very well done, as always. xx

    I loved this poem. I thought it said so much of what others fail to see when their love isn't returned...that we have the ability to move on. It did seem just a bit rough to read because of punctuation and some minor word usage but still high mark from me.
