A Curse Of Luck

by Daphne Darling   Aug 3, 2007

A potter curse, engraved in stone,
A shattering verse, a wound so deep,
I’ve shaken the earth, cut right to the bone,
Your path a sorrowed way and I refuse to weep.

Controversy, I shout thy name,
Take my hand today, I can’t but bite,
And I, but your spiteful thank you letter,
Take heed, I won’t stand this game,
I stand my ground and again I fight,
I see you now, I’m not the better.

And here I stand before you, accused,
My crime a simple mercy of time,
And here I wilt again, abused,
I can’t seem to wipe away the grime.

A travesty, I can’t quite place,
I lend an ear, you shout your shame,
I’ll turn my back and wish you ill,
I can see it now, a mirror of my face,
I lead the way and bring your fame,
You’ve caught me now, ensnared against my will.

But a simple verse I sing,
His name on my lips, none but yours,
And I thee kill, with this ring,
The rain is acid, and oh it pours.

Forsaken my name,
Rejected my claim,
Just tell me your game,
And I’ll lay the blame.
