Lips Bearing Equality

by geeeeee   Aug 3, 2007

We will watch the blood drip from our palms
The blood of those with lips bearing equality
Fighting for freedom, a dream long awaited
Will it ever penetrate the barrier of our minds?
Setting out on a perilous journey to change the world
Injustice spreads and breeds like a contagious disease
We seem to be manipulated to conform to set customs
Society has been built on the same concept of a puzzle
Everybody slits into their inherited or assigned class system
Yet when the misplaced sought for a better system
Preaching philosophies of reality to closed minds
They were silenced by those who did not share their views
With power, the establishment can command control
But when their power is jeopardized by a minority
Fear is instilled into every inch of their body
Those deemed a threat to the succession and attainment
Of their prized possession of power and authority
they who fight for a worthy cause are silenced and eliminated,
And their lips bearing equality bear equality no more.

-Dedicated to those who died trying to change the world.

When I first read this, I thought it didn't sound like a poem. But then I realized that it just added to the effect. This is a beautifully written, very thought-provoking poem. Every line is true. Great job.
