Faking a smile and trying to laugh
Hiding the tears behind that mask
Pretending just this once
To stay tough
Hoping they won't see
The person she truly is inside
When they ask her
She always answers
The same way, "I'm okay"
A lie, formulated to hide
The pain inside
It's hard
Keeping up that image
When she feels so broken
But sometimes
You just have to
Surrender to the pain
In order to move on
And find strength
