The Tree of Lost Tragedies

by Atrum Dominatio Donum ut is Letalis of Regnum   Aug 3, 2007

Sitting under a bewildered sky,
Lay a tree of lost tragedies,
A tree of lost causes,
Branching off into my life,
A symbol of my heartache.

My broken heart lay locked away,
At the end of a wilted branch,
Kept safe for the one I loved,
Yet too far for me to reach,
She was the one of my dreams,
She was my everything,
I have never once again,
Found a love quite like hers,
The purest any love can be,
Happily would I bare them;
The burdens of such a blessing,
To experience this purest of love,
For just one time more,
However I know it shall never be,
As only once I was gifted with love,
And the curse of its loss,
Be with forever more.

A broken branch,
Protrudes from what was beautiful,
A representation of the pain caused,
Through my selfish acts of vengeance,
I wished to inflict pain upon those,
Those whod inflected it upon me,
And those who I hold close to me,
Forgiveness was the correct path,
A path I came to ignore,
Thus distancing myself,
From the ones whom I loved,
At first I believed I was helping,
Dealing out my vigilante justice,
To those I thought deserved it,
Not thinking that the kind hearts,
That had been betrayed by them,
Had healed, grown stronger,
And forgiven, as how I should have.

As I lament upon my sorrows,
I bare a heavy burden of regret,
I now see how I should have been,
Though now it be too late,
I have alienated myself,
From the ones who I love,
I have lamented for hours,
Im unable now to find true love,
I have dived so far in depression,
Ive forgotten about spreading my roots,
I should have tried to rekindle,
The love I used to have,
Now, I grow unsure,
Weather I will be the same again,
I think now maybe the time,
To go back to the ground,
To lay on the soil as ashes,
To be remembered as who I am.

Despite all this heartache,
Despite all this pain,
A single leaf grows,
I shall live once again.

Although I wrote the poem, the idea was not my own, Hannah, a very close friend, was the one behind the idea of the poem.

  • Wow...really great! I would try to put into words how beautiful and moving I thought this piece was, but from my lips ( or through my fingers lol) cannot come words to convey such spledid ability, such wonderful talent. So, instead of saying so, I will merely say...

I don't like the second stanza but rest are great. This poem has three mistakes, second stanza destroys a flow, this poem is hard to read because every stanza has many lines and if you can make this poem little shorter atmosphere will be a more powerful. Anyway this is very deep poem and some lines are incredible.
