It my fault for believing that lie

by grim   Aug 4, 2007

Where did we go wrong?
Where had we lost our way?
Now you say you hate me
Pound into me like clay
We don't talk as much before
We no longer see the same
You scuff at my attempts
and hold me for all the blame
I can't even touch you
Can't even caress your arm
You stomp away from me
More destructive than a storm
You leave a pain in me
Whenever you say "not now"
Then when can I show my affection?
And while you're listening . . .how?
Roses don't work anymore
Dinner doesn't melt your heart
You even insult me now
Saying that I'm no-where near smart
You told your friend I'm not cute
And that you are getting bored
Now I see what this is
No need to say another word
You're ready to make a change
This was only a fling
We outgrew our phase
And the fat lady begins to sing
You have the "hots" for some other
And now I'm in the way
I'm only the soft, sensitive clouds
That separates night and day
This pain I can't explain
It like a million swords at play
Each taking a slice of me
Leaving nothing for me to say
I'll leave you alone
I won't stand in your way
You need to catch that guy
You don't have to stay
My heart will only break
It will only cry
But as long as I still live
don't worry, flirt with that guy
My nights will only seem haunted
My days will only be too long
My tears will only seem like rivers
And I'll never turn off our song
But as long as he's still hot
And he still flashes that dashing smile
Hop behind him like a school girl
And leave this flailing man behind
I don't blame you for being so cold
I only blame myself
I was too attached to you
Just another dust on the shelf
But don't worry about me
I will only die a little on the inside
When you said you loved me
It was my fault for believing that lie.
