The beginning

I didn't do it on purpose
or did i
I'm sure it was an accident
but thinking back
maybe not

i was holding it in my hand
it sparkled like a new penny.
i scored a line
down the page
then it slipped.

crimson red splashed
droplets settled
smudging the paper
but i swear i was careful
i didn't realize.

Ive never done it before
but i felt better.
i didn't mean to
but it was an occurrence.
time and time again

it was never intentional
but i felt calm
i covered the mark
pretended it wasn't there
i smile

once again I'm sorry
truly i am
but this was the start of things
i didn't mean
for it to get out of hand
