Another Wonderful Day's Night

Still-sleepy blue eyes come to me 'round 1am every night
My heart lays down it's defences, nothing with which this love to fight...
Gorgeous eyes, as the clearing sky after rain
They cloud my mind, remove any of the day's residual pain.
We talk and we laugh, and sometimes just stare at the face
Of the one we're longing to have and to hold, forever in our heart's embrace.
It matters not what the nights discussion might bring
As long as we're together somehow, it can be about anything.
The wanting each other, s@x, Beatles! Religion...
Sometimes even politics, as we share Fox television.
We discuss the future, and will both our pasts to be swept away...
(As far as I'm concerned baby, I have none before we 'met' that day!)
I dream all day of the time that we'll speak once again
And then dread and rue the moment, I know it will have to end.
Sleep has become secondary, and that's at best...
Smiling blue eyes in front of me, why do I need rest??
But then inevitably it's time and after precious hours we must disconnect
My own eyes are drooping, but yet my heart will ALWAYS that moment, reject!
The empty ache of being without you, even if for a very brief time
Is an ache only soothed, by my hearts realisation that yours is also mine.
I know I said I'd go to bed now honey, but I must hear your voice
My pocketbook is screaming no but my heart argues that choice!!...
So with eager fingers I dial the number now engraved on my mind
Knowing your sweet voice on the other end I will find.
Five minutes there turns into another hour
I know I should go, but I don't have the willpower!
We'll talk later this morning baby, I love you,..byeeeeee
Ha!!! Gotcha! Picked it back up, quicker than batting an eye!
But I really must go now, only 3 hours to sleep
I'll dream of the love that we share, forever ours to keep.
