you try to capture it
and hold it close
but it slips through your fingers like water

it brings joy unlike any other
but the pain that comes along with it can break you
it treats your heart like a toy

so dont tell me that you understand love
because you dont
no one does

its elusive
and it appears out of nowhere
a gift and a curse

dont underestimate it
because it overestimates you
its stronger than you think

it will comfort you
and it will hurt you
it doesnt stay the same

it moves like the wind
one minute its there
and the next its gone
