High School Crush

by Love Fallacy   Aug 6, 2007

Do you remember back in school,
That girl that caught your eye.
The one who made your stomach turn,
And gave you an inner high.

She was in your first period class,
Sat to the right of you.
But never knowing what to say,
Or even what to do.

You see this girl isn't single,
She's with another guy.
At home with her yearbook picture,
Just makes you want to cry.

Do you remember during class,
She asked you a favor.
To help her with her math homework,
You'd be her math savior.

Now you're so very excited,
You tremble as you speak.
Ask her when she wants to study,
And where she wants to meet.

Her house, she said, the perfect place,
It's kind of like a date.
We'll eat, we'll talk, and we'l study,
Is this some sort of fate?

The night was going really well,
But drawing to an end.
The doorbell rang, guess who it was,
That's right, it's her boyfriend.

Walked out of her house with a smile,
Hid the tear in my eye.
But as I'm walking down the street,
I break and start to cry.

This girl I guess I'll never have,
No matter what I do.
But I swear I won't quit dreaming,
Of the day I'm with you.

It has really empressed me! the best intonation to tell this sort of story... i guess this poem is best being read aloud, because rhythme here is perfect.
while reading the first stanzas, i thought it was kind of common poem, but starting from

"Her house, she said, the perfect place,
It's kind of like a date."

it really got be attention. you express the mod an d feeling of the hero so well; how happy he is with her and how sad he got alone.

such simple feelings, still so important.
    great write.
