Farewell Debility

by Melissa   Aug 6, 2007

I use to pinch you like a flower
between my pursed lips
then I'd inhale your promises
of a cool, eclectic life
and you'd linger about these callow lungs
polluting all
the city could not

And I never minded
that you were laden with tar
my veins only needed
your gosh darn chemicals
to fulfill a childish craving,
a perpetual urge
accentuating frailty
more often than not

So I spat
mouth's slender companion
who befriended me
over coffee
and lackluster conversation
for far too long now,
no more will a hard pack
console these lonesome moods
