So Close Yet So Far(Part1)

I'm lying in bed
By my boyfriend's side
He runs his fingers through my hair
I've never felt so alive

But then out of nowhere
My parents start to yell
I close my eyes and whisper
"Welcome to the pits of hell."

He hears me mumble
He feels my pain
He pulls me close
And whispers my name...

"It'll be okay.
Everything will be fine.
Just remember,
You'll always be in this heart of mine."

I smile softly
But it rapidly fades
As my father's voice
Echoes in my brain...

"You're worthless,
Just a waste of time.
There's no way
I consider you a daughter of mine."

Tears swell in my eyes
And cascade down my face
My boyfriend wipes them away
But there's still a watery trace

That's when it hit him
That's when he understood
I always knew
He eventually would

He takes my arms
In a gentle grasp
Yep he knew
Finally, at last

''That's why you cut?
That's why you bleed?
Because you don't think
You'll amount to anything?''

I gravely nod my head
There's nothing I can really say
I've never felt so close to him
Yet so far away
