Rose Bush For Mother

by OHgreenman   Aug 6, 2007

Poor
Young child
Scarcely smiled
Straying alone
Nowhere labeled home
Wondering streets at night
Dreaming in pallid moonlight
Remembering the one polite
Woman of sixty, gloomy and gray
Would leave table scraps on a wooden tray

I'm poor, have nothing to repay her with
Closest thing to mother, 'ole gram Smith
Struggling with what I can do
To give a proper thank you
Finding wild roses
Placing in poses
For the front lawn's
Early dawn
Rose bush
Mom
