Just Might Have His Radio On [Lyrics]

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Aug 7, 2007

[VERSE 1]

I`m sitting alone with a bottle of cheap champagne,
And my broken heart lets me think it eases the pain,
But my naivety has me sitting up with my old guitar,
Strumming out pointless love songs that won`t get me far.
And there`s a pile of bills left out on the counter -
To be paid when reality isn`t such a pathetic blur.
You say you don`t need a girl like me anymore,
So you packed your bags and walked out that door.
And call me stupid; I never moved to stop you,
But Baby, there was no more savin` left here to do.

[VERSE 2]

And I listen to the footsteps out on the city streets,
They walk by all day, and I`ve found it kind of neat,
In all the time we spent; I thought I knew you well,
But to come back to me? "Not a shot in hell."
Isn`t that what you said? What you really meant?
`Cuz no sweet lies are ever paved into cement.
You can throw out all of the lines that you can,
To any pretty lady that you see without a man;
But just know that drunken words are sober thoughts,
And I`m singing this to you Baby, over you - I`m not.

[BRIDGE]

I learned the art of fake smiles and perfected it;
And this song`s to you, I`ll love you forever; I admit.

[CHORUS]

You can call me pathetic for the anonymous calls;
They must be driving the radio DJ`s up the walls,
But Baby, this song you have to hear; it`s now or never,
And I don`t want lose your beautiful eyes forever.
So I`ll continue making these anxious calls to say:
"Here`s to hoping he just might have his radio on today!"
And I`ll sing a homecoming song to you on the top of my lungs,
Hoping that you`ll tap on those brakes and end your run.

[VERSE 3]

My friends all tell me to move on with my life, forget about you;
But I know that`s something that I just can`t force myself to do,
And you`ve been running away now for fifteen long days,
I`ve got it marked on the calender; I can see it through the haze -
Cigarette smoke clouds around in our four bedroom walls,
And mixed with the vodka, it helps me to take the fall.
But there`s a picture of us from happier times in my hand,
With lipstick smeared across your face and where we stand,
Those rolling hills and the blue pond where we sat,
When you told me you loved me and you left it at that.
I looked into your sky blue eyes, you weren`t lying Baby;
So I hold onto this hope that you`ll come running back to me.

[CHORUS]

You can call me pathetic for the anonymous calls;

[BRIDGE]

I learned the art of fake smiles and perfected it;
And this song`s to you, I`ll love you forever; I admit.

    Holy fuzz. Wow. I'm adding this to my favourites, because it was just amaaaazing.

    "But just know that drunken words are sober thoughts," - I adored this line. It's so true. In a way it made me laugh, in a good way. I think. lol.

    This was just a pleasure to read.
    Well done.
