A Shadow In The Dark

by Poetic Tragedy08   Aug 7, 2007

In the shadows is where I see
A person who was all I meant to be

One who follows me with the wind
Whose eyes could make you cringe

You cannot look at him, for you cannot see
He knows everything, but can never leave

He will always try to enter your mind
And leave everything you have behind

This man was who I once saw my life
Who took everything out with his knife

But the sun slowly creeped from the sky
Leaving him in shadow to slowly die

There is nothing left but shame and regret
For his soul had nowhere to be met

I no longer try to see him as me
For he is nothing I wanted to be

I smile at the sun that left the shadow in dark
Where the man was left without a single mark

You started someone new
For that, I'd give my best for you

You began something few could do
For that, I'd give my life for you...
