Still life

by herewithme   Aug 7, 2007

She awakens from a deep slumber
that has kept her so well hidden for a mere few hours
before she arouses to meet her hell.
scandals and rumours
started by her "friends" is her day
while an unhealthy, alcoholic home life
awaits her arrival for the night.
the few that know and love her
have no understanding or idea of her life.
she looks at her surroundings,
distorted and faded memories portray a happier child -
those days have long since been replaced.
Tears fill her eyes as she listens
to the stumbling mess her mother had become.
if they only knew.
feeling angry and cut off from the world
one thing occupies her thought-filled mind.
"is this who i am meant to become?"
her heart pounding on the walls of her chest
is the only sign that she is still alive.
