He Died For You Today

by Brittney   Aug 7, 2007

Do you know his name?
He died for YOU today
He was fighting for YOU.

In a foreign place
Nothing like home
fighting for YOUR freedom

He hadn't expected it
The bullet through his chest
His friend tried to help
As he took his last breath

People devasted
Friends and family alike
He died because he was fighting
for all of YOUR rights

Do you know his name?
Or do you even care?
Do you care
that he died for YOU today?

R.I.P all of those who have died fighting for my freedoms and the freedom of some many others.

Sometimes we forget to show respect for those who have fought and suffered for us. It's so common we just go about our day not bothering to see how many soldiers died today. So, the next time you bow your head to pray remember those and their families and the ones who remain fighting for our rights.

My brother was in Iraq for 13 months and I thank people who do care and show their appreciation for people in the war. Thank god he came back okay but he ended breaking his leg in three places! so thank you!

I agree, though I know there are soldiers dying. It can sometimes be hard to imagine what it's really like out there while we're in our comfy home. Nice job

I liked this poem alot, the dedication was sweetly sad mixed together with strong emotions. Each line was simple yet really effecitve. I found this poem to be strongly placed together with the raw emotions. Well done on creating a nicely written piece of poetry. ~mel
