Always Remember

by Megamidget3   Aug 7, 2007

My cell phone rang
in the middle of the night.
I answered it to a girl, crying.
I asked if she was alright.

She said, weeping,
that her boyfriend just dumped her.
I calmly asked her why,
but she said that she was unsure.

Then she told me
that he dumped her on a street.
I asked her which one,
and that's where we will meet.

I hopped in my car
and headed toward this place.
Then I saw her and pulled over,
my heart quickening in pace.

I jumped out,
asked if everything was o.k.,
she said with a grim smile, "Fine,
just get in and let's get away."

In the car,
she said she stood her ground,
not doing what he wanted,
inner strength, she had found.

I was so proud
for her, standing up to him.
I told her just that,
and then her smile didn't look so grim.

I got to her house,
jumped out, and opened the door for her.
I hugged her goodbye
and said, "I always want you to remember:

"No matter what,
I will always be there for you.
I love you, and that is why
I will never leave you alone, too"

I hugged her,
and gave her a kiss goodnight.
I watched her walk into her house,
knowing everything will be alright.
