To Courtney Sayer (374)

To Courtney Sayer
Aren't we still best friends?
Why did you have to leave?
I can't survive.

You were my arm to lean on
My shoulder to cry on
My guiding light
Shining bright.

I hope you hear this plea
From a girl you once knew
I need you back here
This is so true.

I was once so very quiet
And so scared to know
But then you came along
And all of that changed.

You inspired me
You touched my life
You dried my dampened spirits
You imposed on me to move forward.

Now that you're gone
I feel so dead
And so weak
And oddly vulnerable.

My back is bent from bearing this load
My face is lined with care
And with pale tear tracks
I feel like I've
Aged ten long years.

I made a box that bears your name
I placed in there my memories
Of you
But...

I don't have much
No photographs
Just what you wrote down
And a hair tie you gave me.

I'm watching that girl you made me
Her head is bowed low in grief
She leans her forehead against the hard stone wall
And a cold flame flickers within.

She wonders where you are
And if you remember her
If you ever think of your old life
And the times you spent together...

She wanders if you ever cared
At all...
Or were you lying all along?
Were you pulling strings
Like on a puppet?

To Courtney Sayer
I wish you would call
I wish we could talk
I wish we could go on with our future plans
I wish you were back here.
