Played Cards

by JoshCNakroshis   Aug 8, 2007

Just hang on to that Emotional Rollercoaster that has a broken safety Bar
Your only hope is that fate dealt you the right hand
A "Royal Flush" of tears doesn't help
You need to get a "Straight" Jacket just to keep your hands down
But it feels like the cards are stacked, they weight upon you

The dealer deals the card of death,
The Ace of Spades, but not to you
A slick smile spread across his face as she flips it
Shocked you turn, scared with the possibilities floating around,
Bursting in your head, like bubbles of blood

The noise of shock issues from her mouth
Her last words to you, burned like acid
"Your never around anymore, I don't see why I talk to you!"
Those words were the ones she left you with; her sign of love is in her heart

She waits at the hilltop, for you, her "man"
A hill of Poker Chips and Painkillers, the things she "bet" her life on,
That trip to that "hot seat" wasn't all that it was cut out to be.
She just dosen't see, what her life was worth and now she waits in the place called hell.
For you, her "world" the one who'd never hurt her.

One game of strip poker, and one bad dare
The fear and hate she put towards you all fuled her suicidal fires.
She didn't think that you'd mind her going.
Her words, that she couldn't take back.
She didn't know.

Her hair, still that firey red, as she lays on her deathbed.
Her laugh still floating around your head.
Intoxicating, like the first emotional hit of love.
But now she's gone, she left you for the devil.
Now she's nobodies girl.

Wow, uhm. I'm at a loss for words with this one.
The depth was unreal as was the heart.
Usually poems don't make me feel what the writer does,
but with this one, I felt it all.
The flow wasn't as great as it should have been..
but, all poems don't -need- flow, I suppose.
You did wonders with this one, darling.
