Save Me From Myself (Trijan Refrain)

by Jenni Marie   Aug 8, 2007

Someone come save me from myself
Do not know what to do
Finally, I'm asking for help
Always feeling so blue
Worst enemy, I have become
My hopes and dreams are all undone
Worst enemy
Worst enemy
{Inside I am completely numb}

Someone come save me from myself
For I'm alone, confused
How do I deal with pain I've felt
My heart severely bruised
Agonized soul now crying out
Left here with miserable doubt
Agonized soul
Agonized soul
{No longer know what I'm about}

Someone come save me from myself
Don't leave me here no more
How do I deal with pain that's dealt?
How'd I become so low?
Deafening pain gripping my soul
Things no longer in my control
Deafening pain
Deafening pain
{Been ripped apart, no longer whole}

The Trijan Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of three 9-line stanzas, for a total of 27 lines.
Line 1 is the same in all three stanzas, although a variation of the form is not to repeat the same line
at the beginning of each stanza. In other words, the beginning line of each stanza can be different.
The first four syllables of line 5 in each stanza are repeated as the double-refrain for lines 7 and 8.
The Trijan Refrain is a rhyming poem with a set meter and rhyme scheme as follows:

Rhyme scheme: a/b/a/b/c/c/d,d refrain of first 4 words of line five /c

Meter: 8/6/8/6/8/8/4,4 refrain/8

    Damn, that is one confusing form to write, but you did a kick ass job with it.

    Touching and so sad, the emotion just flowed through out.... although I am hoping its not true, but just know that I'm always here for you!
