Payday (Rondeau)

by Jenni Marie   Aug 8, 2007

Treated me so wrong, now it's payday
Nothing you ever did was okay
Used me for fun, caused untold pain
Spent so long feeling I was insane
Now it's time to finally have my say

All this time you've been getting your way
Treating me as your source of play
Never knew hurt until along you came
Now it's payday

Another heartbreaker doing what you may
Nothing matters as long as you're okay
This relationship often left me feeling drained
Now got nothing to lose, everything to gain
Well baby, now you'd better pray
Now it's pay day

A Rondeau is a French form, 15 lines long, consisting of three stanzas: a quintet, a quatrain, and a
sestet with a rhyme scheme as follows: aabba aabR aabbaR. Lines 9 and 15 are short - a
refrain (R) consisting of a phrase taken from line one. The other lines are longer (but all of the
same metrical length).

Great poem. Flaw is excellent and atmosphere that you created is amazing. Whole piece is full with anger and it is very emotional. First stanza is my favorite.
