Sunset

by sharath sharathi   Aug 9, 2007

Slowly as I trod down the street going nowhere,
Facing the weary petals of slumbering air.
Draped in a drop of sleep- a sunflower,
And a yolk of a cracked egg, I could discover.

Something I notice passing this ancient tree,
Wonder if it is a dropping sun in my vicinity?
Yes! It is the end of another splendid day,
wherein all my dreams had come true.

That lovely furnace of Sun's ray,
that precipitated over this blooming bay.
Clouds that dance the sky and swirl into daze,
Slowly perishes the last of the sun's rays.

The big jewel in royal colors is stolen,
stolen! Stolen! Deep into horizon.
Waves of colors that spread out against the sky,
Subtly fill passion in my smiling eye.

Back home, I still watch the sun slipping down the windowpane;
I shut my weary eyes to sleep beside the moon.
A ray of hope, I find comforting my face,
Open my eyes and find the sun's smiling rays
