Jack and I

by Ill Give Blood To Your Dried Veins   Aug 10, 2007

Jack and I would wish upon a star and pretend that they've come true.
We would look up at the night sky like that's where we belonged.
But Jack and I were never meant to be.
We lived on false hopes pretending everything was fine.

I always seemed to be the one who broke things beyond repair.
I never learned to open my heart, no matter who it was.
The only time I could really smile was when I was alone.
Back then there were no surprises and no sulky eyed boys to break my heart.

Jack always hated being alone.
He'd pretend to be in love until things were too hard to handle.
He always said love was a dream to make people feel they mattered.

Jack always meant the world to me even though he always let me down.
He could never see how hard I fell for him.
And even though being with him always makes my heart ache, I could never live a day without him because I've already fallen too far.

Your have such an interesting way of forming your sentences. It's truly unique. I enjoyed this piece, it paints a sad picture in shades of gray, your reader's aren't really sure of which is which. Great job.
