The times I miss you

As thoughts of you still linger
crystal clear in my mind
I'm plauged with the memories
of our happier times

the delighted, sparkling,
sweetly shared smiles
the lyrics we could relate to
that would run on for miles

the laughter, the kisses,
the warming bear-hugs
the candlelit dinners
shared on the living room rug

I miss all this and more,
when I'm thinking of you.
Believe me when I say
it happens often, it's true

I can't say everything
between us was good
we did fail in the end,
but we gave it all we could.

sometimes I just wish
that you'd be thinking of me
your memory triggered in something
you smell, taste, or see

I can never truyl say goodbye to
someone as special as you, my friend
too many memories were left behind,
to have brought "us" to an end
