Beat Down Palace

by Twisted Heart   Aug 12, 2007

Inside the soul that crumbles
from pain too much to bare
Hidden in the corner
of your heart torn by despair
Are memories that's holding
to the wreckage of your mind
Broken in the battle
beaten down and left behind.

Mere sadness seems too soft a word
describing what is real
A heart so full of emptiness
a vacancy you feel
Against the night of loneliness
your teardrops fall like rain
Shattering the silence
time and time again.

No hope to stay the power
of the night that holds the heart
Just shattered jagged pieces
as it breaks apart
A hunger that is burning
into ashes stings the eyes
Leaving not a trace
of what a soul cannot deny.

To sleep with such a heartache
may bring to one relief
Seldom does it follow
deep inside your dreams
A comfort in the holding
of a heart and soul that breaks
Are fragile thoughts consuming
on a mind that's wide awake.
