My Last Dance

by Letty   Aug 12, 2007

Thinking you'd never leave me,
I thought you'd always be my friend.
Not realizing how much of a fool I was,
Until you brought us to an end.

Believing you could be counted on,
Whenever I was sad, lonely, or deeply depressed.
I didn't understand that all of our arguments,
Was part of your relationship test.

You left me at the wrong time,
It was when I mostly needed you,
Now I wonder the world like an Alzheimers patient,
Lost and completely confused.

I don't trust anyone anymore,
That also includes you or anyone else.
You were the food I chose to live on,
You were my every breath.

I placed every piece of my heart,
And my fragile emotions into your hands.
I didn't know the dance that I dance with you,
You would be my one and only dance.

"I didn't know the dance that I dance with you,
You would be my one and only dance."

In my opinion, it is better to omit the word 'you' in the last line: it seems much right with me. Though on certain parts of the poem the flow is quite awkward, the emotions are truly emotive and descriptions poetic and poignant. All the best.
