Garden Sweets

by Nikki   Aug 12, 2007

Ants keep their Mars Bars under cool grey stones,
Spiders hang their wafers from their webs,
Whilst wasps eat their pear-drops from the inside out
And greenfly like their sherbet dusted white.

Worms like their liquorice to be curly,
Butterflies like their lollies to dissolve,
And slugs keep their jelly in their underwear -
No wonder it melts in there!

But I keep my sweets in a paper bag
Or bulging in the pouch of my cheek,
Til the syrup drips out to the ground
Where my sweet-lipped friends can be found!
