She

by Perfectly Unperfect   Aug 13, 2007

This is a poem I wrote about a failed relationship between myself and the most important person in my life...
-------------------------------------------------------

Her choice of words is always perfect.
When she speaks, it is like a plethora of poetry pours from her mouth.
Her melodious tone turns a simple statement into a seductive song.
During conversation her eyes light up with concentration.
She puts so much thought into what she says; she never speaks from her head, always from her heart.
She is smart. She is strong. She is independent.
She is a woman of her word; a woman of great words.
But she's distant.
She has made crucial mistakes.
For some reason, with her expertise in knowledge and critical thinking,
She somehow seems to lose all logic when it comes to arguments.
Her heart shuts down; her head turns on.
Her rational thinking evaporates along with all specks of patience.
She is surrounded by five square feet of eggshells every minute of every day.
Because of this, our relationship is something she has failed to keep.
It is also something she has failed to restore.

She is my mother.
She is everything I want to be.
She is everything I pray I will not become.
