When You Say Nothing At All

by Twisted Heart   Aug 14, 2007

Mere words of love need not be said
From thy lips no whisper come
Actions from a heart instead
Speak volumes to a soul that's numb.

We tender hope on pasted smiles
From words that cut so deep
Tarnished counts that stay awhile
Invading dreams, conquering sleep.

Cold eyes of thine, have come to see
What words will you remember
When all the actions that will be
Rise up to heart's surrender.

Speak not words for penance lies
Against the dark that holds your breath
With pained sorrow your mind collides
Encased upon the tomb of death.

Sweet words the victor of life's game
Broken vessels steer clear and fall
Among the actions there to claim
Within the words unsaid by all.

I love your choice of words with this one, it tells a very complex story without being too overbearing with the choice of words, i love this--great job!

    Jeannie,
Congrats on the win in the song title challenge. Much deserved....
This poem hit me in a way like yours usually do......to the core. When I first read it, as I have told you before its as though you write from my views about my ex. You scare me with how much it could relate. Absolutely wonderful job on the poem.
