Broken Memories

I was looking through my old box of notes,
Found those pictures of us that you were looking for.
Never wanting to forget those sweet memories,
But they each stab my hearts most sensitive core.
I keep telling myself I won't miss you,
Even though that is so untrue.
I realized I cannot forget about you,
Your name is permantly engraved in my soul.
Each picture brings back another memory,
Every single one so bitter sweet.
Suddenly I remember that
I'd give you everything,
My every heartbeat,
Just to have you in my arms,
Never to leave my side again.
I know you don't need me,
The way I need you,
But it kills me to pretend everything is okay.
And I know you love her now,
She'll never love you as much as I do.
Even so...
She better realize how lucky she is,
To be your one and only baby.
She better give you every drop of her love,
Even if it couldn't match mine for you.
Hopefully she won't make the mistakes I did,
And hold onto your hand tighter than I ever could.
No, I don't want you two together,
I want you to be mine forever.
But if she makes you happy,
Then who am I to complain?
Honestly, all I want is for you to be happy,
And never forget my broken heart is forever yours.
